Rebecca Berlin Melzer represents individuals in all aspects of family and matrimonial law proceedings, including negotiation and preparation of prenuptial, postnuptial, parenting, and settlement agreements, valuation and distribution of assets, custody and other child-related matters, and contested trials and appeals.
In 2012 and 2013, Ms. Melzer was chosen to the list of Rising Stars by Illinois Super Lawyers.
While in law school, Ms. Melzer received numerous CALI “Excellence for the Future Awards” in the areas of Intensive Trial Advocacy, Pre-Trial Litigation, Advanced Issues in Family Law, Appellate Courts and Procedure, Legal Rights of Children, and Family Law Negotiations and Strategies. Ms. Melzer was named “Best Advocate” for Intensive Trial Advocacy and was selected for inclusion in the Judicial Intern Opportunity Program of the American Bar Association, Litigation Section. During law school Ms. Melzer also served a judicial externship with the Honorable Moshe Jacobius (former presiding judge, Domestic Relations Division, Cook County Circuit Court) and was in the Litigation and Alternative Dispute Resolution Certificate Program.
Ms. Melzer currently serves as an associate editor of the ISBA Family Law Council newsletter. She also participates in many Chicago-Kent College of Law activities, including speaking on panels about the practice of law.
Ms. Melzer is admitted to practice in Illinois and Kentucky.
