Berger Schatz Hosts Special Holocaust Program, “The Einsatzgruppen Trial: The Biggest Murder Trial in History”

Berger Schatz hosted a virtual Chicago Lawyers Committee CLE program “The Einsatzgruppen Trial: The Biggest Murder Trial in History” on October 22, 2020.

Famously prosecuted by Ben Ferencz, the Einsatzgruppen Trial involved the notorious Nazi mobile killing units that murdered more than one million Jews including those massacred at Babi Yar.

The event featured John Geiringer, Partner at Barack Ferrazzano and Co-Director of the Chicago-Kent College of Law’s Center for National Security and Human Rights Law and Consortium for the Research and Study of Holocaust and the Law, who discussed the ninth trial of the Einsatzgruppen Trial at Nuremberg and its implications in today’s world.

Berger Schatz Principal Leon I. Finkel organized the event in partnership with the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum’s Midwest office. As the son of a Holocaust survivor, the museum holds a special place for Leon and his family. Leon recently drew parallels between 2020 and of the hope and perseverance of his survivor father in this article, which appeared in conjunction with the premier of The Windermere Children, a PBS program on young Holocaust survivors.
