Associate Attorney
Berger Schatz LLP, one of the most preeminent matrimonial law firms in the nation, with offices in Chicago and Lake Forest, Illinois, is seeking a full-time Associate Attorney.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Manage cases in Cook, Lake, and DuPage counties
- Maintain client relationships and confidentiality
- Appear in court at pretrial conferences, hearings, trials and prove ups
- Draft pleadings, Marital Settlement Agreements, Final Allocation Judgments and Parenting Plans, pretrial memorandum, and correspondence
- Attend and participate in depositions, client meetings and settlement conferences
- Review and analyze documents relative to assets, liabilities, income and expenses
- Manage client relationships and communication
- Perform legal research and writing
- Advise clients and negotiate with opposing counsel
- Collaborate with fellow attorneys regarding settlement and trial strategies
Requirements:
- Illinois Bar License
- Three (3) – six (6) years’ experience in civil litigation, domestic relations experience
- Exceptional writing and analytical skills
- Experience interacting with clients directly
- Ability to assess, prioritize, problem solve and execute multiple assignments in a high volume and fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently and efficiently to meet tight deadlines
- Experience working in a team environment
- Self-starting, intrapreneurial mindset, with desire to grow and learn
